January Catch Up

Baby It's Cold Outside!

We have spent lots of time looking at the COLD winds blowing outside and enjoying our nice warm home. Lots of family fun!
And a little bit of cabin fever too...

One Friday we had a big storm -it only seemed appropriate to do some baking for the day.
Caleb loves to help -we made some brown bread, Blueberry Breakfast Cake (Thanks Robin Elgard), some garlic cheddar cheese biscuits and a big pot of fish chowder.

Perfect.

Saturday morning breakfast with daddy-letting mommy sleep in.

Birthday fun with Mommy-of course we had to invite Lightening McQueen and TowMater

Some TV time together

TANGLED

Right before supper Caleb asked to comb my hair. "Sure Caleb..." (We have done this many times) One comb and then I feel a pull. "What are you doing Caleb?" "I don't know Mommy" I put my hand up and the panic begins. He has completely twisted the comb into my hair at the top of my head. I work at it for 15 min with no success. Matt comes home at this point and tries for another 20 min with the same results.

The kids were getting hungry and anxious so Matt suggested we go ahead and leave it until we put them to bed and then he would work on it. So I sat through supper, cleaned up the kitchen and put the kids to bed with a comb stuck in my hair...

Let's keep in mind -it's the end of one of THOSE days -Caleb had been picking on his sister, disobeying me, and Fiona has been keeping us up many nights with a cough and cold
-I have no sense of humor left.

Yes -I'm clearly thinking here "WHY am I a mother?"

Just before we began, Matt went downstairs to the basement saying he needed to get some tools...

After about 45 minutes of using the pliers and cutting the comb into itty bitty pieces we had success!

Thank you Matt!

God certainly has a way of teaching lessons -just started this book and this project this first week of 2012...listing things to be thankful for every day.

Yes Caleb -I am so thankful for you and love you very much...but you will never be playing hairstylist again with me!

Christmas Concerts

Well -the videos are super huge and we're not sure how to shrink them just yet, so here's a glimpse of Caleb's Christmas concert debut this year in pictures!

His first performance was at our church during the Living Christmas Tree -he knew all of the words of course, but didn't sing one the three times he was in it :0)
He was pretty excited though and was glad to take part.

His other performance was this week at his preschool. He sang a little bit, but was pretty excited about the bells that they got to ring.

Of course, here's one of Fiona -not in any concert, but entertaining us daily!

Here's a craft that Caleb made in Sunday School a couple of weeks ago.
A good reminder for this season to "Welcome Jesus"

Merry Christmas!

Being Thankful

It's Thanksgiving weekend here -it's absolutely beautiful outside today and all of the fall colors have arrived here in New Brunswick.

Thankfulness has taken on a new meaning for me this year...did you hear? We hit a moose a month ago and totaled our vehicle. So incredibly scary. As you can see in the picture below, it took out the right side of the vehicle where Caleb and I were both sitting (Matt wasn't allowed to take pictures of THAT side). A few stitches and some cuts for me, but not.a.scratch. on Caleb. I've said a few times this month "Isn't that unbelievable?" But then I have to stop myself -it's VERY believable when you think about how big our God is and you consider how much He cares for us.

So being thankful has taken on a brand new meaning for our family -thank You Lord for teaching us about being thankful and for reminding me to not take ONE moment for granted.

Suddenly the "everyday-ness" means EVERYTHING.

A week after the accident being able to take Caleb to his first day of preschool

Until...

A better update on life is coming soon...I promise! But until then , please enjoy this.

Caleb LOVES this new umbrella that we found while getting new shoes for school last week. He wanted to try it out so bad and daddy thought the shower would be the best place!

What's New

Here's a few new pictures for you....growing so fast

Back on Mother's Day

Mommy and Daughter

Caleb and Lauren -Tiger and Sharon came for a visit -a wonderful weekend with our friends

Caleb turned 3 years old!

I can hardly believe that Caleb is 3 already -time sure does fly! I'm so reminded of that these last couple of weeks as we see pictures of the graduates from our church -it's going to be us in just a minute!

He LOVES Cars right now (yes, Daddy is taking him to the "movie house" this week to see the second one!) and he is also crazy about GeoTrax. He is asking Daddy every night if they can build a new track before bed.

He is talking in whole sentences and making sense most of the time :0) He is pretty well potty trained -yipeee!!!! The afternoon nap is all done -very sad for mommy! He is busy, busy, busy, but is also gaining such a tender heart and an understanding of things around him.

What a blessing and challenge he is to us daily!

Miss Fiona turned 10 months old this past week -She is a whopping 24 pounds and is getting ready to crawl, even though for now she is content to roll around to get where she would like to go and to get into Caleb's toys! She is eating three solid meals a day and naps pretty well twice a day if we aren't on the run. She is sleeping through the night now and babbles all the time. She adores her big brother and gets so excited when Matt walks through the door at night.

This picture was taken after supper one night last week -you can see she pulled one of her pony tails out and thought it was pretty funny!

And an oldie to end on...we celebrated 6 wonderful years last weekend -wow!
A trip for 2 to Banff sounds just about right :0)
